| About the
schools. Landscove Church of England Primary School is located in the small village of Landscove in the Devon countryside, close to the national park Dartmoor. There are 106 children at the school aged from 5 to 11, in 4 classes. All the children at the school speak English as their first language. There is a fully equiped computer suite at the school and all children are taught ICT. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards. The headteacher is Mr Robin Smith. The Mahan Siddhartha High School in Kathmandu is located in the Chabahil area of Kathmandu, close to the sacred Buddhist Stupa at Boudhnath. There are approximately 500 children at the school aged from 3 to 16, from nursery to Grade X. All teaching is delivered in English, the second language for all staff and pupils. There are a few older style computers at the school but no internet connection, and electricity in Kathmandu is often unavailable for up to eight hours at a time. All classrooms have chalkboards. 34 of the children live in the school hostel with the headteacher, Babu Ram KC, and his family. The link between the schools is Anna, a parent at Landscove who travels regularly to Kathmandu. Anna became a member of the board of MSSchool in 2004 and has often taken gifts and letters etc between the schools. In 2007 the whole family travelled to Kathmandu where Isaac and Angus, then aged 9 and 10, spent a very happy day at MSSchool. |
